Job Details

• Specialty: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)
• Shift: 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (07:00 - 15:30)
• Call Requirements: Pre-assigned call shifts; 1-2 shifts per week expected
• Weekend Requirement: 2-3 weekend days per 8-week schedule
• Holiday Requirement: Option to pick up holiday call assignments or fill gaps
• Patient Ratios: 1:1 for all shifts
• Rooms/Beds: 16 rooms, 16 beds
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Required Experience & Skills

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Minimum 2 years of Outpatient Surgery experience, with at least 1 year within the last year
• Ophthalmology experience
• Vascular Surgery experience
• Urology experience
• Endo/Laparoscopic experience
• Experience with the following vascular surgery procedures:

  • Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair
  • Aortocaval fistula repair
  • Aortoenteric fistula repair
  • Arteriovenous fistula repair
  • Arteriovenous malformation surgery
  • Atherectomy
  • Carotid angioplasty
  • Carotid artery stenting
  • Carotid endarterectomy
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIHSS certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Active Illinois RN license required (no pending licenses accepted)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• CNOR preferred
• ACLS, PALS, NRP, and other certifications may be required or preferred depending on unit specifics

Additional Requirements

• No more than 5 days of Return to Office (RTO) restrictions preferred
• Locals accepted with no radius restrictions
• First-time travelers not accepted

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements

• Background checks including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, and sex offender registry
• Various health documents required including:

  • Physical exam within 1 year
  • Fit mask test within 12 months
  • Immunizations/vaccinations (Tdap, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu seasonal vaccination) or documented immunity/exemptions
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
  • Drug testing (10 panel within 30 days of start)
  • Eye exam and color blindness test within 1 year
• Competency exams including medication test/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG (not required for OR RNs)
• Facility-specific documents and confidentiality agreements required
• References: 2 required

This position is ideal for experienced OR RNs with strong vascular and ophthalmology surgical skills seeking a travel contract in a well-established acute care teaching hospital environment.
