Position Details

Job Description

• General Duties:

  • Function as a member of the Patient Care Team, providing professional nursing care services to patients admitted, transferred, and discharged from the facility.
  • Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for assigned patients (ages 16 through adult).
  • Participate in an interdisciplinary approach to meet patient care expectations.

• Equipment Utilized:

  • Epic electronic medical record.

Requirements

• Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg experience preferred.
  • General medical Level of Care experience is preferred.

• Licenses and Certifications:

  • Current Illinois RN license.
  • BLS certification (American Heart).

• Shift Requirements:

  • No call required.
  • Every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday on Day Shift and either Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday on Night Shift).
  • Every other holiday.

• Floating:

  • Nurses may be asked to float to any General Medical unit throughout the hospital.

Unit Information

• Bed Size: Currently a 13-bed unit, with plans to expand by an additional 10 beds.
• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:4-5; 25/7.
• Dress Code: Professional attire; no childish scrub characters.

Orientation

• Training:

  • 1st day includes Epic training and HealthStream work.
  • Followed by 2 shifts with a unit preceptor.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

• Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary for patient care appropriate to the age of patients served.
• Professional level of nursing practice and theory knowledge.
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients and care providers.
• Analytical ability to assess patients' needs and develop individualized care plans.

Additional Information

• Candidates should disclose any required time off, current shift, and whether they are a 1099 employee.
• Must understand that OSF is a Drug-Free Campus and must pass a negative drug screen.
