Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS and ACLS certifications (current)
• Minimum 1 year of med/surg experience as a Registered Nurse, with telemetry experience preferred
• Proficient in patient assessment, care planning, and documentation in an EMR
• Strong communication, clinical judgment, and teamwork skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams and adapt to a rotating schedule

Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs and develop individualized medical-surgical care plans in collaboration with physicians and the care team
• Provide direct patient care, monitor clinical status, and update care plans based on assessments
• Perform telemetry monitoring and develop clinical skills in cardiac care and rhythm recognition
• Administer medications, manage IVs, and implement evidence-based nursing interventions
• Educate patients and families on self-care, post-discharge instructions, and lifestyle modifications
• Advocate for patient safety, participate in quality improvement and infection prevention initiatives
• Accurately document care, patient responses, and discharge planning in the electronic medical record
• Support unit workflow by delegating appropriately, fostering teamwork, and promoting positive change
