Location & Overview
Join a dynamic healthcare team in Rochester, NY (zip code 14642) for a 13-week travel assignment at a Level I trauma center. This opportunity is ideal for experienced Rad Techs (radiologic technologists, X-ray technologists, radiographers) who want to advance clinical skills in diagnostic imaging, trauma radiography, and intraoperative c-arm/o-arm procedures while living in the vibrant Greater Rochester area.
Job Details
- Location: Rochester, NY 14642 (Greater Rochester, Upstate New York)
- Position: Travel Radiology Technologist / Rad Tech / X-ray Technologist
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (May 11, 2026 – August 8, 2026)
- Employment Type: Travel, On-site
- Shift: Sunday – Thursday, 5x8 hour evening shifts
- Hours per Week: 40
- On Call: 2–3 call shifts per month (must be able to report within 30 minutes)
- Holiday Coverage: As needed per unit requirements
Compensation
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,150 - $2,310 per week (based on experience and qualifications)
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology
- Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- New York State Radiologic Technologist license (or eligibility to obtain prior to start)
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Minimum 2 years of professional X-ray / radiology technologist experience
- Recent OR experience at a Level I trauma center (intraoperative radiography required)
- Experience using c-arm and o-arm within the past 8 months
- Ability to move or lift patients and stand for extended periods
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills
- Patient-focused, compassionate, and a collaborative team player
Key Responsibilities
- Verify patient identity and review physicians' orders before performing radiographic procedures
- Operate x-ray and intraoperative imaging equipment (c-arm/o-arm) to capture diagnostic-quality images of bones, tissues, and organs
- Provide clear procedure explanations and patient care instructions to patients and family members
- Position patients accurately, including lifting and transferring patients with limited mobility
- Follow radiation safety protocols to maintain ALARA principles and minimize patient exposure
- Monitor patient status and apply age-specific care considerations
- Produce and deliver diagnostic images to Radiologists via PACS for timely interpretation
- Report damaged or malfunctioning radiology equipment promptly to management
- Use electronic medical records (EMR) and imaging systems; practice dual patient identification procedures
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure proper image labeling and submission to PACS
