Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (compact or state-specific as required)
- BLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
- Minimum of 2 years bedside clinical experience; Med/Surg RN experience preferred
- Experience in Med/Surg or related specialties (Thoracic Surgery, Surgical Pathology, Sub-Acute, Pediatric PACU, Pediatric OR) is a plus
- Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and patient education skills for travel nursing roles
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, high-quality medical-surgical nursing care by following individualized nursing care plans
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments within 8 hours of patient admission and develop individualized care plans
- Provide timely, accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient responses using clinical judgment
- Supervise Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and orientees as assigned
- Identify teaching needs and set goals for patients and families; initiate patient teaching and discharge planning starting at admission
- Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and provide direct patient care using the nursing process
- Communicate changes in patient condition to the interdisciplinary care team to support continuity and patient safety
- Delegate tasks appropriately and provide direction to ancillary staff while promoting unit efficiency and teamwork
- Assume charge responsibilities as requested after orientation and support positive team-building efforts
- Prioritize professional growth through continuing education and self-directed learning relevant to Med/Surg nursing
