Cardiac Stepdown RN Requirements (Telemetry / PCU)

• Minimum 2 years recent experience in cardiac stepdown, telemetry, or progressive care (PCU)
• Experience in large facility and teaching hospital settings preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred (travel RN / contract nurse)
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in required state
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (NIHSS required prior to start)
• EPIC EMR experience within the past 2 years — required and nonnegotiable
• Willingness to float to other units within Central Pool PCU (medical/surgical and other progressive care areas)
• Flexible scheduling required; no block schedules permitted
• Reliable transportation required (public transportation is not accessible in this area)
• Vehicle should be equipped with all-season or snow tires November–April

Primary Responsibilities — Cardiac/Telemetry Nursing

• Provide high-quality nursing care to cardiac stepdown and telemetry patients, including post-cath, STEMI, and structural heart cases
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, administer medications, and manage telemetry monitoring
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (cardiology, case management, respiratory therapy) to coordinate patient care
• Document care accurately and efficiently using EPIC EMR
• Float to medical/surgical or other progressive care areas as needed within the Central Pool PCU
• Participate in bi-weekly orientation and ongoing professional development for travel nursing staff
• Maintain compliance with facility protocols, regulatory standards, and quality initiatives
