Travel OR RN | Charleston, SC 29407 | 13-week contract – Ambulatory Surgery Center opportunity for an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (perioperative nurse) with 1+ year OR experience in orthopedic and surgical oncology cases.
Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,820 - $1,920

- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (travel nurse assignment)
- Shift: 4x10-hour day shifts (06:30am - 5:00pm); occasional late stays required
- Setting: Ambulatory Surgery Center – Orthopedic focus (total joints, arthroscopy)
- Start Date: April 13, 2026
- On-site Position: Must be available to work on-site
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of recent Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) experience; perioperative, scrub nurse, or circulating nurse experience preferred
- Experience in specialties such as Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, ENT, GYN, GU, Endocrine, Surgical Oncology, Plastics, Robotics, and Total Joints
- South Carolina RN license or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license (active or pending with proof of application)
- Valid BLS certification required
- Radiation badge provided by parent company
- Epic charting experience preferred (electronic medical record experience valued)
- First-time travelers not accepted; experienced travel nurses only
- Locals accepted within a 60-mile radius (Charleston local nursing jobs)
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
Responsibilities – OR / Perioperative Nurse
- Prepare patients for surgery: review history, reconcile medications, obtain vital signs, start IVs, and administer premedications
- Provide intraoperative care and assist with orthopedic procedures including total joints, arthroscopy, hand, shoulder, elbow, hip, and limited spine cases
- Support surgical oncology and specialty cases as needed in the ambulatory setting
- Monitor post-anesthesia patients, review discharge instructions, and facilitate safe discharge in PACU
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and OR staff in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Maintain strict infection control, specimen handling, and universal protocol compliance
- Float within the perioperative facility as needed to support staffing and patient flow
- Utilize standard OR equipment including Skytron beds, Stryker power tools, and Arthrex arthroscopy systems
