Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,260 – $2,430
- Role: Operating Room RN First Assist (RNFA) – Travel RN / Pediatric OR RN
- Location: Charleston, WV (25302) — Charleston travel nursing, West Virginia nursing jobs
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 16, 2026 – July 16, 2026)
- Shift: 5x8-hour day shifts (06:45 – 17:15), with weekday and weekend on-call duties (rotating schedule)
- Unit: 30-bed Operating Room Unit for pediatric patients (newborn to 17 years)
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience (required) — perioperative and pediatric OR experience highly valued
- Travel nursing experience required (no first-time travelers accepted)
- Experience in pediatric and women's specialty settings (preferred)
- Robotic surgery experience (preferred) — experience with robotic-assisted procedures is a plus
- Active WV or Compact RN license (pending license accepted, must be active to start)
- BLS certification (required, American Heart Association)
- ACLS certification (preferred, American Heart Association)
- Minimum 2 manager or charge references within the past 2 years
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (medical exemptions only)
- Locals within 75 miles not accepted; must have permanent address greater than 100 miles from facility (case-by-case for 75-100 miles)
Responsibilities
- Provide first assist duties in the operating room for pediatric patients (newborn to 17 years) — surgical first assist and perioperative nursing responsibilities
- Circulate and scrub in a variety of pediatric and general OR cases, including high-acuity pediatric surgery
- Participate in on-call rotation for weekday and weekend coverage
- Utilize advanced skills including IV starts, robotic surgery assistance, and instrument processing
- Maintain aseptic technique and adhere to isolation precautions/PPE
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, and rapid response
- Chart using Cerner electronic medical record (Cerner EMR) — accurate perioperative documentation required
- Assist with wound dressing, suturing, and other surgical procedures as needed
