Job Details

• Position: Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) / Telemetry RN / Stepdown RN (Travel Nurse)
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,680 - $1,770 (travel RN pay)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (with possible extension)
• Start Date: April 20, 2026
• Shift: 3 x 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), weekdays and some weekends (night shift travel nurse)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Setting: Stepdown / Immediate Care Unit (cardiac step-down / telemetry)
• Patient Ratio: Typically 1:4, flex to 1:5 in emergencies
• Scrubs: Burgundy and/or white (not provided)
• EMR: Cerner (experience with Cerner EMR preferred)

Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required (cardiac nursing, telemetry, or stepdown experience preferred)
• At least 1 year of MS/Telemetry and 2 years in Stepdown or equivalent cardiac step-down experience
• Active West Virginia RN license or Compact RN license accepted (pending acceptable)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association) required
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips and telemetry monitoring
• Clinical skills: IV start, telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, cardiac drip titration, wound care, tracheostomy care, central and peripheral line management, BiPAP/CPAP, oxygen administration, isolation precautions
• Minimum two manager or charge nurse references within the past two years
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
• Must have a permanent address greater than 100 miles from the facility (75–100 miles considered case-by-case)

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients recovering from cardiac surgery or interventional cardiology procedures (cardiac stepdown care)
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and cardiac rhythms; manage dysrhythmias and titrate cardiac drips as indicated
• Administer medications, manage IVs, and perform post-operative cardiac nursing care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV team, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Perform wound care, tracheostomy management, and central/peripheral line maintenance
• Accurately document patient care using Cerner EMR (electronic medical record)
• Participate in rapid response/code teams and maintain infection control and isolation precautions
