Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1800 - $1890
- Location: Youngstown, Ohio (zip 44504) — travel nursing assignment in Mahoning County
- Position Type: Travel RN / Travel Nursing (local candidates not accepted)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (May 4, 2026 – August 3, 2026)
- Shift: 12-hour Nights (Night Shift – PCU Nurse)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit: PCU / Stepdown Unit 8S - OBS / Intermediate Care (16 beds)
- Patient Ratios: 1:4-5 (subject to change based on staffing)
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license in Ohio or compact state (required) — Ohio nursing license preferred
- BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
- NIH Stroke Certification and Dysrhythmia Exam (required; study guide available)
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience (required) with preference for acute care or PCU/stepdown experience
- 6 months RN experience in an acute care hospital setting (preferred)
- EPIC EHR experience, Critical Care Course, CCRN or PCCN (preferred)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) (preferred)
- Navy blue scrubs required
PCU / Travel RN Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate outcomes
- Safely administer medications and IV infusions, including titratable cardiac drips pending transfer
- Monitor telemetry and manage patients with chest pain, post heart cath care, TIA/stroke, seizures, neuro/spine post-op, and other intermediate care needs
- Care for patients with central lines, wound vacs, hemovacs, JP drains, feeding tubes, and advanced respiratory modalities (BiPAP, CPAP, High Flow NC)
- Provide pre/post cath care and coordinate timely transfers to higher levels of care when needed
- Serve as the point of contact for interdisciplinary teams, communicate patient status updates, and document care accurately (EPIC experience a plus)
- Act as a patient safety advocate, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and support patient and family education
- Maintain professionalism, practice self-care, and ensure patient privacy and compliance with facility policies
