Description

Registered Nurse - Operating Room (OR)

Location: Marquette, Michigan
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Orientation occurs bi-weekly.
On-call requirement: one day per week and one weekend per month. On-call only on holidays.
Facility is a 225-bed specialty care hospital with multiple specialty centers including Heart & Vascular, Cancer, Brain & Spine, Rehab, Behavioral Health, Digestive Health, Bariatric Medicine & Weight Management, Women's Health, and Pediatrics.
The unit is the Operating Room with 12 OR beds.
Trauma Level 2 facility that also receives Level 1 trauma patients.
Shifts: 10- and 12-hour shifts starting at 6:45 AM or 9:00 AM.
Weekend hours: Call in 12-hour blocks with two teams on call during weekends.
Call requirements: One or two weekends every 6 weeks and one weeknight every other week with a 30-minute response time.
Patient ratios: 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio.
Patient population primarily geriatrics and adults; pediatrics are rare.
Electronic Health Record system: Cerner.
No float requirements.
Housing should be arranged early; block schedules cannot be guaranteed.

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Experience in general OR nursing
Experience in Urology, Gynecology (GYN/OB), Neurosurgery, Orthopedic Surgery (including total joints, sports medicine, trauma, podiatry)
Experience with basic Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) surgery
Experience with basic vascular surgery
Experience with robotic surgery

Additional Information

Scrub color: Hospital-provided scrubs.
Local candidates must live 60 miles or more away to qualify as travel.
Guaranteed weekly hours.
