Minimum Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years recent CVOR or Cardiac Stepdown RN experience (telemetry / progressive care experience preferred)
- Active Illinois RN license (must be in hand)
- BLS certification required
- Ability to submit requested time off (RTO) at time of application
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility (travel nurse eligibility)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for individuals recovering from cardiac surgery and interventional cardiac procedures in the stepdown unit
- Monitor hemodynamics and telemetry, assess vital signs, and administer prescribed medications and IV therapies
- Assist with cardiac interventions, wound care, and post-op recovery protocols relevant to CVOR and PCU populations
- Collaborate with cardiology, surgical teams, and multidisciplinary staff to develop and implement individualized patient care plans
- Educate patients and families on post-operative care, discharge instructions, and lifestyle modifications for cardiac recovery
- Participate in on-call rotation (estimated once a week and every 3rd or 4th weekend) and maintain accurate, timely documentation to uphold patient safety and quality standards
