- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,620 – $1,710
- Location: Amarillo, TX 79106 (Amarillo healthcare / Texas nursing jobs)
- Role: Cardiac Stepdown RN / Telemetry Nurse / Intermediate Care Nurse
- Unit: Intermediate Care (Cardiac Stepdown), 24 beds
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 20, 2026 – July 20, 2026)
- Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 – 07:30)
- Hours per Week: 36 (option for 48 hours available)
- Patient Ratios: 1:4 to 1:6
- Travel Requirement: Must live at least 50 miles from facility (no local candidates)
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years recent RN experience in stepdown, telemetry, intermediate care, or similar setting
- Active RN license (Texas or compact) — must be eligible to practice in Texas
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Epic EMR experience required (experience with electronic charting/telemetry documentation)
- Comfortable with patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:6; previous travel nursing experience preferred
- Charge nurse experience preferred; strong teamwork and communication skills
- Must not have worked as permanent staff at this facility within the past year
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care for adult patients in a cardiac stepdown / intermediate care unit
- Monitor and manage telemetry and dysrhythmias; manage cardiac drips (no titration)
- Administer blood products and manage central and peripheral lines
- Initiate rapid response/code team protocols and participate in emergency care as needed
- Perform non-invasive airway management and oxygen therapy
- Adhere to isolation precautions and PPE protocols to ensure patient and staff safety
- Float to departments of equal or lesser acuity when required
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy, and Case Management
- Document all patient care and assessments accurately using Epic EMR
