Job Requirements (ER RN / Travel Nurse)
- At least 1 year of recent inpatient medical-surgical or acute care experience (ER boarding experience a plus)
- Active RN license (state-specific) — travel nurse applicants welcome
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Strong inpatient clinical skills, including telemetry monitoring and IV medication administration
- Ability to work independently and prioritize in a high-acuity Emergency Department / ED boarder care model
- Flexibility, teamwork, and clear communication with interdisciplinary teams (ED physicians, hospitalists, ICU, inpatient services)
- Commitment to patient safety, throughput, and quality care standards
Responsibilities (Emergency Department Nurse)
- Provide inpatient-level nursing care to admitted patients boarding in the Emergency Department while awaiting transfer to an inpatient bed
- Manage up to 4 patients (4:1 ratio), including telemetry patients, IV medication administration, post-procedural care, and general medical-surgical needs
- Collaborate closely with ED physicians, hospitalists, ICU teams, and inpatient units to ensure continuity of care and safe patient transitions
- Support patient throughput, safety, and ED capacity management in a busy urban hospital setting
- Work within the ED boarder care model; floating to other units may be required based on departmental needs and demonstrated clinical competency
- Demonstrate strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and effective interdisciplinary communication
