- Unit / Setting: Acute care – PCU / Stepdown (Candler 4N Unit)
- Shift: 12-hour days
- Hours per Week: 36 hours (guaranteed)
- Self-Scheduling: Yes
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Yes
- Dress Code: Navy scrubs
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent PCU / Stepdown experience in a hospital of similar size and acuity — Telemetry RN experience required
- Successful completion of at least 1 travel contract (travel nursing experience preferred)
- Active RN license (state RN license or compact license as required for travel assignments)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification required
- Telemetry skills and cardiac monitoring experience required
- Must pass clinical resume review for facility consideration
- 100-mile radius rule strictly enforced (no local candidates)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in a 12-bed PCU / Stepdown unit
- Manage nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4–5 depending on patient acuity
- Care for patients with Med-Surg, Sickle Cell, heart failure, and other common PCU diagnoses
- Titrate drips and manage IV infusions for PCU patients
- Perform lab draws and pull labs when phlebotomy support is not available
- Utilize respiratory therapy equipment (nasal cannula, face masks, BiPAP) and collaborate with RT staff
- Document patient care using MEDITECH electronic health record (EHR) charting system
- Collaborate effectively with charge nurses, nurse aides, physicians, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members
- Complete unit-specific orientation including computer skills and knowledge assessments
