Job Details

• Location: Mechanicsville, Virginia (23116) – near Richmond, VA
• Job Title: Travel NICU RN / Neonatal Nurse
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130 - $2,250
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (April 6, 2026 – July 4, 2026)
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7p–7a); every other weekend and major holiday required
• Hours per Week: 36
• Setting: Level III NICU, 9-bed unit
• Patient Population: Early and late pre-term infants, high-risk low birth weight babies
• Travel Assignment Requirement: No local candidates — must live outside a 50-mile radius

Qualifications / Job Requirements

• Current RN license in Virginia or valid compact nurse license (required)
• BLS (AHA) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications (required)
• STABLE certification (preferred)
• EPIC EHR experience strongly preferred
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience and proven Level III NICU experience (required)
• Experience with neonatal clinical skills: peripheral IVs, umbilical lines, NG/OG tubes, syringe pumps, bubble CPAP, high flow, nasal cannula
• Ability to attend deliveries and function as an integral part of the NICU delivery team
• Flexible to float within the New Life Center and to other NICU units in the Richmond area

Key Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based neonatal care in a Level III NICU setting
• Attend deliveries and serve as a key member of the NICU team for high-risk births
• Perform comprehensive neonatal assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Administer medications and manage lines and devices (peripheral IVs, umbilical lines, NG/OG tubes, syringe pumps)
• Provide airway support using bubble CPAP, high-flow systems, and nasal cannulas
• Document accurately and timely in EPIC EHR to support continuity of care
• Educate and support families on neonatal care, breastfeeding, and discharge planning
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (neonatologists, respiratory therapists, lactation consultants, case management) to ensure optimal neonatal outcomes
• Float to other NICU units as needed to support patient care across the health system
