Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Jacksonville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule & Work Details
- 5x8 hour shifts, Days, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
- 40 hours per week
- On-call required nights, weekends, and holidays (typically 1 night per week)
- 2-3 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
- No local candidates; must live within a 50-mile radius
- Staffing ratio: 1:1
- Floating to similar or lower acuity units as needed
Job Responsibilities
- Assess each patient immediately upon admission to the OR, addressing biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, discharge planning, and family support needs
- Ongoing assessment and reassessment of patients to identify needs and nursing interventions
- Develop individualized nursing care plans for patients in the intraoperative setting
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 3 years of main hospital experience
- Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
Certifications & Compliance
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted)
- Other certifications may be required depending on assignment area (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, CPI)
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Education verification and diploma/transcript required
- Drug screening and health documents including immunizations and TB testing required
- Facility-specific documents and attestations must be completed prior to start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date required
Health & Safety Requirements
- Negative drug screen within 30 days of start
- Immunizations required: Tdap (within 10 years), MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer), Varicella, Hepatitis B titer, Flu vaccine during flu season or approved declination
- COVID vaccination proof if vaccinated; unvaccinated candidates must complete declination form
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; annual TB questionnaire and screening as applicable
- Fit mask test as applicable
Additional Information
- Candidates will be reviewed and interviewed by management
- Must include Return to Office (RTO) information in submission to be honored at time of offer
- Candidates must complete facility-specific orientation modules and sign required documents such as confidentiality statements, code of conduct, and communication standards
- Onsite training for Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) required for ER RNs
