Pharmacist Travel Position - Asheville, North Carolina

Job Details

  • Specialty: Pharmacist
  • Location: Asheville, NC
  • Employment Type: Travel
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift:
    • 8-hour shifts, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, 5 days per week
    • Q4 weekends and evenings (1:00 PM - 9:30 PM) every 5 weeks
    • 7 on / 7 off rotation including weekends (rotation may start Wednesday or Thursday)

Facility Overview

  • Large hospital with 815 beds
  • Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, Level III neonatal ICU
  • Regional referral center with pediatric subspecialists and busiest robotic surgery program in the Carolinas
  • Recognized for high clinical quality and patient safety (Magnet® Designation, Leapfrog “A” grade, Healthgrades top 1% hospital)

Unit Information (Pharmacy)

  • Location: 2nd floor, B Tower
  • Staff: 150 total; 34 pharmacists on day shift, 3 pharmacists on night shift
  • Patient ratios vary by area
  • Equipment: Talyst Machine, Pyxis, LAFW, CAI
  • EMR systems: Cerner, Vigilanz

Role & Responsibilities

  • Work primarily 3rd shift in central pharmacy
  • Oversee technician staff
  • Verify medication orders and clinical documentation
  • Perform order verification, product checking/distribution
  • Answer clinical questions from nurses and providers

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed Pharmacist in North Carolina
  • Hospital experience required
  • Experience overseeing pharmacy technicians

Preferred Qualifications

  • Emergency Department experience
  • Experience with Cerner and Vigilanz systems
  • 3rd shift experience
  • ACLS certification (preferred if working in ED)

  • Positive attitude

Dress Code

  • Forest green scrubs (top and bottom) or black bottoms
  • Business casual also allowed

Additional Notes

  • Many policies govern medication management on the unit
  • Rotation includes weekends and on-call coverage as part of 7 on / 7 off schedule
