Job Opportunity: RN Critical Care (Travel)
Location: Parma, Ohio
Facility: Parma Medical Center, University Hospitals
Position Details
- Specialty: RN Critical Care
- Employment Type: Travel
- Contract Length: 12 months
- Schedule: Full-time, every other weekend and every other holiday
- Preferred Experience: Open Heart Surgery Recovery, IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump), and CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy)
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – American Heart Association only
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- Permanent RN License – Primary source verification required within 30 days of start; temporary licenses not accepted
- UHS Ohio Fingerprints – Ohio BCI&I check and FCRA-compliant national criminal background check (requirements vary based on residency duration in Ohio)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – Positive titers within last 15 years or appropriate booster protocol
- Varicella – Positive titers within last 15 years or appropriate booster protocol
- Hepatitis B – Proof of full series, partial series with declination, or positive titers within 15 years
- Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis) – Proof of vaccination within past 10 years (declinations not accepted)
- 2-Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/TSPOT) – Negative results within last 6 months; annual requirement
- Fit Test – Completed within 1 year of start (specific approved mask models)
- Physical/Health Statement – Pre-employment physical exam within 1 year, stating ability to work without restrictions
- Influenza Vaccine – Proof of vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (preferred, not required)
- COVID-19 Vaccine – Proof or approved exemption (preferred, not required)
- Positive PPD – If applicable, negative chest x-ray within 5 years and current TB questionnaire
Professional & Employment Verification
- Education Verification – Highest level of education verified; international education requires equivalency documentation
- Employment Verification – Verification of employment within last 5 years through third-party verification
- Criminal Background Check – Completed within 6 months prior to start, including SSN trace, county searches, and national criminal sweep
- OIG Search – Completed within 6 months prior to start
- SAM/EPLS/GSA/OFAC Screening – Completed within 6 months prior to start
- Social Security Trace and NSO – If not included in background check, must be completed within specified timeframes
- Drug Screen – 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start; instant drug screens not accepted
Competency & Training Requirements
- UHS Competency Exam – Must score at least 80%, completed within 1 year prior to start
- UHS Core Competencies – Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission-NPSG, OSHA topics; 80% passing score required, completed within 1 year prior to start
- UHS Skills Checklist – Clinical skill-specific checklist completed within 1 year prior to start (initial hire only)
- UHS Module Completion Certificate – Safety and compliance training modules to be completed prior to clearance
- UHS Submission Packet – Resume including education and work history, 2 professional references within last 2 years, and completed job application (agency form)
- UHS Badge Photo – Professional headshot (shoulders up, plain background, JPEG format)
Additional Notes
- Temporary licenses are not accepted; must have a valid permanent RN license.
- Attestations are generally not accepted for licenses, education, employment, and background checks.
- Background checks and screenings must be current and compliant with UHS and Ohio state requirements.
- Some immunization boosters require specific timing and documentation protocols.
- Physical exam must confirm ability to work without restrictions.
