Job Description

As a Registered Nurse at Pine Rest, you will be responsible for performing the nursing process as the basis for patient care, providing direction and oversight to licensed and non-licensed staff, and demonstrating compassion and professionalism in all interactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess patient care needs and develop, implement, and continually reassess individualized plans of care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide and coordinate nursing care in collaboration with physicians.
  • Assist in teaching patients and families, including discharge and aftercare planning.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for patients and staff.
  • Document, report, and verify all necessary information according to policies.
  • Monitor and report any potential safety risks to physicians.
  • Foster a customer-friendly environment by following quality improvement standards and maintaining professionalism.
  • Provide care in diverse clinical settings and populations (youth, high acuity adults, older adults).
  • Function as a clinical leader by delegating and coordinating staff assignments and promoting staff development.
  • Participate in the review and improvement of patient care protocols and standards.
  • May train direct care staff and oversee medication and physical health activities.
  • May be responsible for scheduling, staffing, and obtaining pre-authorizations.
  • Role model the organization’s mission and values, providing spiritual, emotional, social, mental, and physical support to patients.
  • Support and promote a recovery-focused, person-centered approach in community residential settings.
  • Maintain required annual training and demonstrate competency in programmatic training.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • May function as a charge nurse.

Work Environment & Shifts

  • Full-time 2nd and 3rd shifts available, including 8- and 12-hour options.
  • Patient populations include youth, high acuity adults, and older adults.
  • Work requires physical and emotional stamina to meet diverse patient needs.
  • Ability to work in potentially adverse environments.

Qualifications

  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in Michigan.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Professional knowledge of psychiatric nursing theory preferred (education from an accredited school of nursing).
  • Satisfactory previous clinical experience; new graduates considered (psych or ED experience preferred).
  • Ability to provide culturally inclusive care in a diverse community setting.
  • Commitment to expressing Christ’s love and compassion through integrity, stewardship, empowerment, and promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Analytical skills to collect, analyze, and interpret complex patient data and communicate findings effectively.
  • May require a valid Michigan driver’s license and ability to access Pine Rest transportation vehicles.
