Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical Technician (CST/ORT) - Travel Assignment

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Specialty: CST/ORT with CVOR experience
  • Employment Type: Travel assignment
  • Certification: Certified Surgical Technician (CST) certification is mandatory
  • Experience: Must have CVOR experience and at least 2 prior travel assignments
  • Shift: Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM
  • On-Call: Required to stay late 1-2 times per week
  • Floating: Within scope of practice and experience

  • Unit Name: CV PreOp
  • Unit Type: Critical Care / Pre-Operative
  • Number of Beds: 4
  • Patient Ratios: 1:1
  • Staffing: RNs, CNC support, secretary, manager shared with CVOR
  • Equipment: GE Carescape Monitoring, Fuji ultrasound
  • Documentation System: Cerner

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Certifications: BLS and CST required
  • Critical Care Experience: Must have critical care experience; PreOp experience is a plus
  • Skills:
    • BCMA (Bar Code Medication Administration)
    • Excellent documentation skills
    • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
    • Strong critical thinking skills
    • Excellent communication skills with interdepartmental teams

Procedures Performed on Unit

  • Large-bore IV starts
  • Chin to toe hair removal
  • Medication administration
  • Skin assessment
  • Assist with arterial line, central line, and epidural placement
  • Transport patients to OR
  • Assist with induction/intubation, positioning, and skin prep
