Position Details

Job Summary

The competent nurse practices independently in the same or similar clinical setting, providing both routine and complex care. The nurse demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care situations, manages contingencies, and makes appropriate assignments and delegations to other care providers.

Responsibilities

• Meet expectations of applicable competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Provide nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administer medications and treatments according to protocol; monitor for side effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.

Requirements

Education & Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Current RN license in Texas or compact license
• Current certifications required (AHA only):

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• Current TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification required

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred

Position Requirements

• New experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
• New hires will be precepted by a trained staff member and must complete organizational and ED-specific competency validations.
• Newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency or specific orientation program.
• Completion of all annual competency verification requirements.

This position is ideal for experienced RNs seeking a travel assignment in an Emergency Department setting with night shifts and weekend responsibilities.
