Job Description

• Perform all unit-specific nursing responsibilities within the scope of service.
• Implement procedures and theories related to cardiovascular medical-surgical nursing.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care for use by the healthcare team.
• Complete initial patient assessments upon admission and develop appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs.
• Implement and modify plans of care and nursing interventions based on continuous evaluation.
• Ensure patient and employee safety by reporting or correcting hazards and incidents.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and patients, including private discussions to resolve issues.
• Provide constructive feedback to peers and engage in professional development.
• Identify personal learning needs and take initiative to address them.
• Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.
• Provide direct care to CVMS patients, including post-op day one CABG, thoracotomy, and vascular surgery patients.
• Maintain a clean and tidy work environment.
• Conduct hourly rounding on patients.
• Proactively seek opportunities to assist internal and external customers.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years relevant nursing experience.
• ASN degree required; BSN preferred.
• Illinois state RN license in good standing.
• BLS (American Heart Association) certification.
• ACLS (American Heart Association) certification.
