Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg / Rehab

Job Description

• May be asked to work as a backup Charge Nurse
• Coordinate total nursing care for patients
• Participate in patient and family teaching
• Provide leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient team personnel
• Nurse to patient ratio: 1 to 4/5
• Average daily patient census: 22
• EMR system: Cerner
• 8-hour non-billable orientation
• Required to work one of the following holiday coverage shifts:

  • Christmas Eve/Christmas Day and the following Friday/weekend
  • New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day and the following Friday/weekend
• No more than 5 days of requested time off (RTO) accepted; all RTO must be submitted and approved at time of application
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible
• Candidate must have their own vehicle (no public transport available)
• Strict attendance policy: after 3 call-offs, contract may be terminated; call-offs must be communicated at least 1.5 hours in advance

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years recent Med Surg & Rehab experience (required)
• Charge RN experience (required)
• Previous travel experience of at least 3 months (required)
• BSN preferred
• Ability to float between Acute Rehab and Med Surg units
• Vermont RN license required (Compact license allowed)
• Certifications required:

  • ACLS (AHA)
  • BLS (AHA)

• 35-bed critical access community hospital
• 25 inpatient medical-surgical beds
• 10-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit
• Therapeutic pool and physical therapy department
• Services include acute care, transitional care, and hospice

• Windsor, VT offers access to outdoor recreation and is within driving distance of Boston, Montreal, and New York

This position is ideal for experienced Med Surg RNs with charge experience who are comfortable working in a small community hospital setting and can commit to a 13-week assignment with strict scheduling and attendance policies.
