Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)

• Location: Salem, Virginia
• Unit: Inpatient Rehab (Main 4E)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour shifts, every other weekend
• Floating Policy: May be floated to other Med Surg departments

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 35
• Patient Ratios: 5-7 patients per nurse
• Staffing: 2-4 techs per census, unit secretaries available
• Equipment: Vitals machine, Baxter IV pumps, SCDs, Bladder scanner
• Documentation System: Meditech

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 2 years in Med/Surg or Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Certifications: BLS
• Licenses: Virginia Registered Nurse License
• Preferred Experience: Rehab experience preferred

Skills and Procedures

• Medication administration including IVs, PICC lines, PEG tube administration
• Bladder scans, tracheostomy care, tube feeding
• Foley catheter care, bladder irrigation
• Blood administration

Work Environment

• Collaborative multidisciplinary team including Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Physiatrist, Physician Assistant, and Neuropsychologist
• Focus on patient functional improvements and achieving goals for functional independence

Dress Code

• Navy blue or white solid scrubs
