Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Amarillo, Texas

Job Details

  • Shift: 3x12 hour days
  • Experience Required: Minimum 1 year
  • Travel experience: Not required
  • Epic experience: Required within the last 6 months
  • Nurse to patient ratio: 1:6
  • Number of rooms/beds: 10
  • Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 holidays
  • Locals not accepted (50 mile radius rule)

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) as applicable
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) as applicable
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) as applicable
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy) as applicable
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) as applicable
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) as applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification as applicable (expires annually)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) as applicable
  • State License verification (primary source online verification required)
  • NURSYS Verification (for RN, LPN/LVN, AP)

Required Competencies

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
  • Color Blind Testing (online version acceptable)
  • Competency Exam (minimum passing score 80% or Angoff score)
  • Core Parts I, II, III (for subcontractors; annual completion required)

Background and Documentation Requirements

  • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check upon hire
  • HHS/OIG check upon hire
  • Education verification (highest level of education)
  • Transcript/Diploma may be accepted as placeholder if education verification is delayed
  • Fingerprinting (time sensitive for New Mexico placements only)
  • Complete employment application/resume
  • Unit-specific skills checklist (annual)
  • 7-year work history verification (NJ placements require minimum 1 year verified with limited gaps)

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
  • Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year
  • TB questionnaire within 90 days of start (for positive results, must renew annually)
  • Measles (Rubeola) immunity: positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if negative/equivocal
  • Mumps immunity: positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if negative/equivocal
  • Rubella immunity: positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if negative/equivocal
  • Hepatitis B: positive titer, series (3), or declination accepted; boosters post titer accepted
  • Varicella: positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history of chickenpox
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, marijuana, methadone, propoxyphene, phencyclidine, opiates, oxycodone/oxymorphone)
  • Additional onsite drug screen during orientation (only 1 attempt allowed; failure results in cancellation)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/01 - 03/31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination (dose 1 and fully vaccinated dose 2 if applicable) or approved medical/religious exemption required (declinations not accepted)

  • Clear headshot photo required for badge
  • Must comply with facility-specific orientation and safety manual acknowledgements
  • Internal attestations and agency-specific exemption forms may be required for COVID-19 and flu vaccine exemptions
  • Candidates must meet all documentation and credentialing requirements prior to start
