Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology (IR) Tech

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology

Position Details

  • Role: IR Tech
  • Start: ASAP
  • Shift: 4x10 hour days, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
  • First-timers Accepted: Yes
  • Weekend Requirement: Call rotation averaging 10 days per month, including weekends
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week guaranteed (facility may low census/cancel 36 hours per contract)
  • Locals Accepted: No (must live more than 70 miles from facility)
  • Pending License: Accepted at manager's discretion
  • Floating: No floating outside scope of practice

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
  • Epic experience required

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience with Outpatient, Inpatient, and Adult ICU settings
  • Proficient with PACS, C-Arm, Contrast, and Biopsies
  • Experience with:
    • Stents, angioplasty, angiograms
    • Paracentesis, thoracentesis, nephrogram
    • Peripheral procedures, biopsies, drainages
    • Vascular studies, venous access, neuro studies
    • Genitourinary (GU), abdomen and pelvis, upper/lower extremity procedures
  • Ability to use and deploy pushable/detachable coils
  • Skilled in use of micro catheters and micro wires
  • Skilled in use of Snare Kits
  • Experience with injector systems, preferably ACIST

Holiday Work Requirement

  • Must be available to work 4 out of 8 major holidays:
    Halloween, Thanksgiving Eve, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day
  • If contract ends before Christmas, must work 2 out of 4 holidays within contract period (Halloween, Thanksgiving Eve, Thanksgiving, Black Friday)
  • No exceptions

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 12 months, including SSN trace, 7-year county history, nationwide search, sex offender search
  • State-specific background checks and registries as required for Missouri
  • Physical exam within 1 year indicating good health
  • Negative drug screen within 12 months
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP as applicable
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (proof of immunity or vaccination)
    • Hepatitis B titer/series or declination
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination
    • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (annual)
    • COVID-19 vaccine preferred but not required
  • OSHA Respirator Clearance required prior to start for fit testing (fit testing done onsite during orientation)
  • TB testing: PPD, Qgold, or TSPOT within 12 months; chest x-ray within 5 years if positive PPD
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and training, including:
    • Confidentiality and security agreements
    • Standards of ethical conduct and relevant policies
    • Cath Lab and ICU/CCU AbioMed Impella online training (if applicable)
  • Photo for badge (passport style, plain background)
  • References and skills checklist required

Notes

  • Candidate must submit Return to Office (RTO) requests with application; additional requests subject to manager approval
  • Candidate will be fit tested onsite during first week; must be clean-shaven for fit test (no PAPR/CAPR provided or accepted)
  • Modules and orientation checklists must be completed as required by unit and position
  • Drug screen and background checks must be current and compliant with facility standards

This position is ideal for IR Techs with strong interventional radiology skills, experience in acute care settings, and the ability to work a demanding call schedule including holidays.
