Registered Nurse (Pediatrics) - Travel/Contract
Location: Tyler, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Minimum 1.5 years nursing experience
- Previous travel experience required
- Certifications required:
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Epic electronic health record experience required
- Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 5 patients
- Unit size: 14 patient rooms/beds
- Patient diagnoses include cardiac observation and post-surgical observation
Skills Required
- Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing
- Remote patient monitoring
- Starting IVs
Preferred Skills
- Cardiac telemetry
- ER holding
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Phlebotomy
- Heparin protocols
- Use of nasal cannula and portable oxygen tanks

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
Background Checks
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
- Education verification (highest level) required
- Work history verification for 7 years required
Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) as applicable
- PALS, BLS required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (NRP), Chemotherapy (CHEMO), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB), Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) as applicable
- State license verification and NURSYS verification required
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgment and HIPAA compliance
Competencies
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% score)
- Color blind testing (online)
- Core competency exams (annual requirement for subcontractors)
Health Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccines
- Hepatitis B: positive titer, series, or declination accepted
- Varicella: positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required

- Clear headshot photo required for badge
- Complete application/resume required
- Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
- No local travelers from certain counties (Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, Morris)
