Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (Travel)
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Description
Seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (Pediatrics) proficient in:
Clinical Skills & Therapies
- Medicated Aerosol Therapy: small volume nebulizers, breath actuated nebulizers, vibrating mesh nebulizers, MDI/DPI therapy, Pentamidine administration
- Airway Clearance Therapy: clapping, vibration, directed cough, PEP, oscillatory PEP, hyperinflation therapy, high frequency chest wall oscillation, intermittent percussive ventilation, acoustic airway clearance, cough assist
- Airway Management: suctioning, tracheostomy care, manual ventilation, ventilator system checks, CPAP/BiPAP/NIMV, negative pressure ventilation, initiation and management of NAVA
- High Risk Delivery: surfactant administration, NRP protocol, T-piece ventilation, intubation
- Blood Gas Sampling: analysis and interpretation
- Humidity Therapy: heated humidity via aerosol mask, trach collar, t-piece, face shield, HME
- Clinical Practice Guidelines: asthma care, cystic fibrosis care, RDS management, BPD prevention, acute chest syndrome, HFNC protocol, respiratory care consult, nitric oxide protocol
- Monitoring: pulse oximetry, peak flow meters, capnography, ventilator graphic interpretation, overnight/continuous pulse oximetry and capnography, spontaneous breathing trial, transcutaneous CO2 monitoring
- Transport: HFNC portable unit, T-piece ventilation, MRI transport with assisted ventilation, neonatal rapid response team, nitric oxide transport
- Oxygen and Special Gas Therapy: nasal cannula, oxygen masks, high flow nasal cannula, oxygen tanks/blenders/analyzers, inhaled nitric oxide calibration and troubleshooting, sub-ambient oxygen, Heliox therapy
- Equipment Cleaning and Maintenance
Required Certifications & Credentials
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- NRP (American Academy of Pediatrics)
- NBRC (National Board of Respiratory Care Certification)
- License/Certificate Verification (valid permanent license required; no temporary licenses)
- Influenza Vaccine (proof required or approved exemption)
- MMR (positive titers or approved booster protocol)
- Varicella (positive titers or approved booster protocol)
- Tdap (proof of vaccination within past 10 years)
- 2-Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) within last 6 months
- Fit Test (completed within 1 year)
- Hepatitis B (proof of series, partial series, or signed declination)
- Physical/Health Statement (pre-employment exam within 1 year, able to work without restrictions)
Required Professional Verifications & Checks
- Ohio Fingerprints (BCI&I check) and FCRA-compliant National Database Criminal Background Check (requirements vary based on residency duration in Ohio)
- UHS I-9 Attestation (proof of eligibility to work)
- UHS Education Verification (highest level of education verified; international equivalency required if applicable)
- UHS Employment Verification (employment within last 5 years verified through third party)
- UHS Criminal Background Check (within 6 months)
- UHS OIG Search (within 6 months)
- UHS SAM/EPLS/GSA/OFAC Screening (within 6 months)
- UHS Drug Screen (10-panel, within 60 days of start; no instant screens)
- UHS Social Security Trace (if not included in background check)
- UHS NSO (if not included in background check)
Required Competency & Training
- UHS Competency Exam (score ≥80%, within 1 year)
- UHS Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics; score ≥80%, within 1 year)
- UHS Module Completion Certificate (safety and compliance training prior to clearance)
- UHS Skills Checklist (clinical skills checklist, clinical only, within 1 year)
