Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Clinical Educator RN - IMC/Stepdown)
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position: Clinical Educator RN for Intermediate Care/Step-down units (covering 2North and S52 IMCs)
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours weekly
- Experience Required:
- Stepdown/IMC/ICU clinical experience
- Minimum 2 years educator experience in a teaching hospital setting
- 5-7 years clinical experience in specialty preferred (minimum 2 years required)
- Must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment
- Education:
- BSN required
- MSN preferred
- Certifications:
- Required: BLS (AHA or ARC), Telemetry experience, Cerner EMR proficiency
- Preferred: ACLS, Specialty Certification relevant to the position
- Vaccination Requirements:
- Flu vaccine required
- May come into contact with COVID-19 patients
Required Credentials & Compliance
Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - preferred
- Other certifications may be required based on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM)
- State Nursing License verification required prior to start
Background & Verification
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification of highest degree required by position
- Employment verification: minimum 2 years of experience in past 7 years, including at least 1 travel assignment
- Drug screening within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), updated annually
- E-Verify and I9 documentation required upon hire
Health & Safety
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
- Immunizations/documentation required for:
- Flu vaccine (or approved exemption)
- COVID-19 vaccine strongly recommended; declination requires mask use
- Tdap within 10 years preferred
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - documentation of 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Varicella - documentation of 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
- N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start and updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)
Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (must score 80% or higher)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam with remediation process if needed (required for many ICU, telemetry, and stepdown units)
- Color blindness testing (online or in-person)
- Other competency exams as required by unit
Additional Requirements
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least two years of experience within the last three years
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, licenses, and contact information
- Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually
- Facility-specific orientation modules must be completed before hire date
Notes
- Valid driver's license required if driving is an essential job function
- Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual required
- Facility requires strict adherence to vaccination and health screening policies
- Candidates must be prepared to complete facility-specific training modules and documentation prior to start
