Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics - Travel/Contract
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Schedule:
- 36 hours per week, 3 shifts of 12 hours each (3x12s)
- No 4x12 shifts offered
- Every other weekend required
- 50/50 rotation between day and night shifts depending on department needs (some flexibility to limit rotation)
- Straight night shifts may be considered for strong candidates
Qualifications & Experience
- 2-3 years of experience required
- At least 1 year experience in PICU or Pediatric CVICU assistance
- No prior travel experience required
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
- Massachusetts state license pending acceptable
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Certifications & Competencies Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or American Red Cross only, required for all clinical/allied positions
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for Cardiovascular Pediatric Intensive Care units and extended assignments beyond 13 weeks
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for specific pediatric and critical care units
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Preferred for NICU, must have PALS or NRP
- Chemotherapy Certification: Required for Oncology roles
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM): Required for Labor & Delivery (AWHONN preferred)
- Professional Certification Verification: Must be verified within 30 days prior to start (e.g., NBRC for Respiratory Therapists)
- State License Verification: Must be verified through MA.gov within 30 days prior to start
- NURSYS Verification: For RN, LPN/LVN, AP within 30 days prior to start
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): Required for all Psych and Behavioral Health positions
Background Checks & Compliance
- 10-year criminal background check within 6 months prior to start, including aliases and multiple federal/state databases
- Massachusetts Statewide iCORI clearance required within 6 months of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- Background checks must be initiated within 24 hours of assignment booking and updated annually for direct candidates
- International background checks required if candidate has lived/worked outside the U.S. in the last 10 years
- Additional background check consent forms required for Behavioral Health and Psych positions
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, cleared to work with no restrictions
- Immunizations and proof required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap after age 11 acceptable, no declinations)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray (annual requirement)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) - proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer
- Hepatitis B (series and/or declination accepted with documentation)
- Varicella - proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer
- Seasonal Flu vaccine (required annually with exemptions accepted)
- COVID-19 vaccine series proof required; boosters preferred but not mandatory; medical and religious exemptions accepted
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months (not required for APN)
- Respiratory Safety Clearance required for all travelers; facility-specific fit testing done onsite
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references from two of the last three employers
- Employment application with 10-year work history; gaps over 30 days require explanation
- Unit-specific skills checklist within one year prior to start
- Completion of facility-specific onboarding and health requirement forms prior to start
- Compliance with facility-specific exemption forms for COVID and Flu vaccines if applicable
Notes
- Rotation between day and night shifts may occur but is limited when possible
- Local candidates within 50 miles may have a different rate (not disclosed here)
- Facility-specific documentation and onboarding packets must be completed timely to avoid delays
