Job Opportunity: Pharmacy Travel/Contract Position

Location: Hays, Kansas

Job Description

  • Work with Meditech EHR system, specifically experience with Expanse required.
  • Responsibilities include order verifications and checking of oral and IV items in the central pharmacy.
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, either five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts.

Required Credentials & Compliance

Licensure & Certifications

  • State License (Primary Source Verification required)
  • NURSYS Verification (for RNs)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) as required
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required for all units
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) as required
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) as required
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - check unit description if required
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) for Labor & Delivery RNs
  • NIH Stroke Certification for ICU, PCU, Med Surg, Ortho/BJ&S, Rehab RNs
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) required for some specialties; may be waived for Medical Surgical floors
  • STABLE certification required for NICU RNs

Background Checks & Verifications

  • 7-year criminal background check within one year of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Education verification of highest degree earned
  • Drug testing: Negative 13-panel test within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within last 12 months (not required annually)
  • Current Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (or approved exemption)
  • Negative TB test (Quantiferon Gold preferred) within 1 year, updated annually; if positive, negative chest X-ray required
  • Vaccination or immunity documentation for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (10/1 – 3/31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination records encouraged but not required

Orientation & Facility Specifics

  • Orientation held on-site, business casual attire recommended (scrubs allowed if required for position)
  • Scrubs of any color allowed for all departments
  • Lactation resources available upon request
  • Must carry government-issued photo ID during hours of service
  • Required facility-specific forms include vaccination declination, TB questionnaire, respirator clearance, and immunization registry authorization

Competencies & Testing

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
  • Pass/Fail testing (EKG/Medication) during orientation, typically due within first 2 weeks
  • Core competency testing and HIPAA acknowledgment required

References & Work History

  • Two professional references required for travel and acute care positions
  • One professional reference required for per diem non-acute care positions
  • Performance evaluations required if previously employed over 1 year
  • Skills checklist must be updated annually for applicable units
