Respiratory Therapist Travel Position
Location & Facility
- Trauma Level: 2
- Total Beds: 341
- Non-teaching facility
- Patient Population: Neonate to Adult (Age 0 – 100+)
- Unit: Respiratory Therapy
- Floating required to hospital floors, nursery, and ER as needed
Contract Length
- 16 weeks (tentative assignment between 16-32 weeks)
Schedule & Shifts
- 12-hour shifts (Day: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM, Night: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Rotation schedule with variation based on department needs
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend minimum
- Holiday requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas/Christmas Eve, New Year’s Day/New Year’s Eve)
- No call requirements
- No block schedules; work Monday through Sunday
Experience & Certifications
- Minimum 2-3 years of Respiratory Therapy experience required
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience in specialty required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required or experience/exposure to neonatal/pediatric population
- ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications required
- EPIC electronic medical record experience within the past 2 years is mandatory
- NY state license or proof of application required (licensing process takes 6-8 weeks)
Orientation & Training
- 2 days orientation
- Bi-weekly orientations on Mondays
Equipment & Systems
- Documentation System: EPIC
- Medication System: Pyxis
- Ventilators: Puritan Bennett 980 & 840, LTV1200
- Respiratory support available 24/7
Dress Code & Appearance
- Scrubs: Black or Ceil Blue
- Shoes: Closed, non-skid
- Jewelry: Minimal, per hospital policy
- Hair/Beard: Groomed; no beard if wearing N95 mask
- Nail polish: Follow hospital dress code
Additional Notes
- Must be flexible with schedule to meet unit and patient care needs
- Reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended (public transportation not accessible)
- Vehicles should have all-season or snow tires November through April
- Complete and detailed work history required for submission, including bed count, EMR, and facility type
- Must explain any employment gaps over 90 days
