Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Odessa, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Must be willing to float to other med/surg/telemetry units as assigned.
  • Facility offers either 48 hours per week or alternating 36/48 hour schedules.

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted)
  • BLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted)
  • PALS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) as applicable
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy) as applicable
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) as applicable
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) as applicable
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) as applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification as applicable
  • State Nursing License verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS Verification for RN, LPN/LVN, or AP within 30 days of start
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required onsite at orientation
  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (annual update)
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing (required for RNs)
  • Tech Cert Verification (National) within 30 days of start

Background Checks & Compliance

  • 7-year background check required within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Annual background check renewal required for ongoing compliance

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
  • Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (N-95 or Halyard Orange Duckbill masks accepted; PAPR not accepted)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (chest X-ray required for positive responders)
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters if low/equivocal titer
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination required
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; booster if low/equivocal titer
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; plan for completion within 72 hours of contract signing
  • Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Oct-April); mask required if declination submitted
  • COVID-19 vaccine preferred but not required

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Completion of facility-specific documents including:
    • Notice of Employment
    • Standards of Conduct
    • Dress Code Policy Acknowledgement
    • Agency Checklist
    • Standards of Behavior
    • COVID Declination (if applicable)
    • HIPAA and Fair Warning Quiz Modules (must be completed within 72 hours of signing)
    • Orientation and Safety Training Modules (must be completed within 72 hours of signing)
    • Annual TB Questionnaire

Additional Requirements

  • 2 professional references within 3 years of start
  • Copy of resume or employment application required
  • Skills checklist updated annually

This position requires flexibility, compliance with strict health and background screening protocols, and up-to-date certifications relevant to med/surg and telemetry nursing care.
