Registered Nurse (RN) - PCU
Location: Vero Beach, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Details

- Start Date: Next applicable orientation date (3-4 weeks out)
- Experience Required:
- Minimum 2 years in PCU
- ICU experience also required
- First-timers Accepted: Yes
- Certifications Required at Time of Submission:
- AHA BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS (must be obtained prior to start)
- Floating: Yes, within scope to all 3 hospitals within 20 miles
- Block Schedule: Not accommodated
- Locals Accepted: Yes, locals receive same rate
- Pending License Accepted: Yes
- Guaranteed Hours:
- 36 hours for 3x12 shifts
- 40 hours for 8/10 shifts
- Special Requirements:
- Epic experience (version 3 or 4) required
- Familiarity with cardiac drips required
- Time-sensitive modules must be prioritized once assignment is confirmed

Required Documentation & Compliance
- Identification: Government-issued photo ID required during hours of service
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Fingerprinting:
- Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start
- Livescan electronic fingerprinting recommended if clearance not on file
- Certifications:
- ACLS (AHA provider card or RQI acceptable; instructor card not accepted)
- BLS (AHA provider card or RQI acceptable)
- NIH Stroke Certification (annual completion required)
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) during orientation for RNs/LPNs
- State License Primary Source Verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification for RNs within 30 days of start
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 6 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Negative 10 panel drug screen plus nicotine test within 1 year of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
- COVID-19 vaccination required (2 doses Pfizer/Moderna or 1 dose J&J); exemptions allowed with approved documentation
- References:
- 2 professional references within 2 years required for travel and acute care positions

- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
- Radiation badge issued if applicable
Orientation & Training
- Online training modules must be completed by due date prior to start
- Modules include COVID documentation submission and cannot be completed on mobile devices
- Candidates must watch training videos fully before taking tests
- Pass/Fail testing for EKG and Pharmacology during orientation (2 attempts allowed each)
Notes
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront; late requests likely will not be approved
- Facility is smoke-free and requires nicotine-free status with testing
- Epic experience and cardiac drip familiarity are critical for this role
- Modules and onboarding process may take multiple days and are high priority
