Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Greenville, South Carolina
Specialty: Registered Nurse

Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Requirements

  • Active South Carolina RN license required
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of experience
  • Must be willing to take call at least two days per week and 1-2 weekends every 6-week schedule, depending on need
  • Overtime available on days worked
  • Shift: 4x10 hour day shifts
  • Locals accepted if within 100 miles (at reduced rate)
  • No pending licenses accepted
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at time of application and approved based on facility needs
  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Floating required: staff may be floated to other units or campuses within Prisma Health, only to units where qualified and competent

Certifications & Training Requirements

  • BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or ARC only, must be current and not expire within 30 days of start
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for certain units (e.g., ICU, ER, Telemetry)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for pediatric units, ER, PACU
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for NICU, Pediatrics, and some other units
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Required for ER and Pediatric ER candidates
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Required as applicable (AWHONN)
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): Required for ER/ED, Pediatric ER, Behavioral Health
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Required annually for ICU, Neuro ICU, ER, and other specified units
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course): Required for ER and Pediatric ER
  • Tech Certification (National): Must be current and valid
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement: HIPAA form required, expires annually
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication): Medication and arrhythmia tests required for RNs (except prebook or non-clinical)
  • State License Verification: Primary source verification required within 30 days of start, license must be current
  • NURSYS Verification: Must show all licenses and authorize work in SC
  • IV Certification: Required for LPN/LVN candidates

Background Checks & Compliance

  • 7-year background check required within 12 months of start
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter
  • Fingerprinting required for certain roles and states (e.g., WV)
  • Education verification required (highest level)
  • OFAC Sanctions List search required for all new/pre candidates
  • Drug screen required within 1 year of start and updated annually (5 panel minimum)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands
  • Respirator Fit Test completed onsite during orientation
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine required for high-risk areas
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot) within 90 days of start
  • Annual TB questionnaire required
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination)
    • Varicella
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved exemption required by deadlines (not required for 100% remote)

Orientation & Training

  • Online Cornerstone Modules (~12 hours) must be completed within 72 hours of assignment
  • 16 hours of non-billable orientation onsite
  • Pass/fail testing must be completed prior to orientation (2 attempts allowed, 84% passing score)
  • Badge photo required prior to start (passport style, specific background and lighting requirements)

  • Floating policy requires staff to work in other units as needed, only within their competencies
  • Facility requires all documentation and compliance items to be current and uploaded prior to start
  • Candidates must be prepared for a fast-paced onboarding process including multiple certifications, background checks, and testing
