Pharmacist Travel Position - Asheville, North Carolina

Job Details

  • Specialty: Pharmacist
  • Location: Asheville, NC
  • Employment Type: Travel
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
  • Shift: 10-hour shifts, 7 days on / 7 days off rotation (including weekends)
  • Unit: Central Pharmacy, 2nd floor, B Tower

Facility Overview

  • Large hospital with 815 beds and 150 pharmacy staff
  • Day shift: 34 pharmacists; Night shift: 3 pharmacists
  • Regional referral center with Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, Level III NICU, and pediatric subspecialists
  • Recognized for high clinical quality, patient safety, and nursing excellence
  • Uses Cerner EMR and Vigilanz for medication management

Unit Information

  • Equipment: Talyst Machine, Pyxis, LAFW, CAI
  • Patient ratios vary depending on area covered
  • Central pharmacy role overseeing technician staff, verifying orders, clinical documentation, and operational needs

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Licensed Pharmacist in North Carolina (RPh)
  • Hospital experience required
  • Experience overseeing pharmacy technicians
  • Ability to work 3rd shift preferred but not mandatory
  • Must be able to handle a high-stress environment, multitask, and maintain a positive attitude
  • Team player and adaptable

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

  • Emergency Department experience
  • Experience with Cerner and Vigilanz systems
  • ACLS certification or experience (required if working in ED)

Typical Responsibilities

  • Order verification
  • Product checking and distribution
  • Answering clinical questions from nurses and providers

Work Environment & Dress Code

  • Scrubs: Forest green top and bottom or black bottoms; business casual also allowed
  • 7 on / 7 off schedule, including weekends

Certifications Required

  • Pharmacist License (RPh) in North Carolina
  • ACLS certification if working in Emergency Department (not required otherwise)
