Travel RN Opportunity – Pediatric CICU/CVICU

Location: Dallas, Texas
Contract Length: 8 weeks

Unit Information

• Pediatric unit with 27 beds and approximately 90 staff members
• Acuity adaptive model caring for ICU and step-down level patients
• Day Shift Staffing: 2 charge nurses (ICU and step-down), 1 PCT, RNs based on census and acuity
• Night Shift Staffing: 2 charge nurses (ICU and step-down), 1 PCT, RNs based on census and acuity
• Patient Ratios: Typically 1:2 or 1:1, occasionally 1:3
• Equipment includes IV pumps (Medfusion, Baxter), Hillrom beds, HARD cribs and cribettes, GE radiant warmers, Somanetics NIRS machines, Servo U ventilators
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 1 year Pediatric CICU/CVICU experience as a staff nurse
• At least 3-4 contracts in dedicated pediatric CICU
• Minimum 2 years PICU experience as a staff nurse
• Experience caring for patients with congenital heart disease (CHD) and post-operative management of CHD patients
• Skilled in management of arterial lines, central lines, and transthoracic lines

Preferred Experience

• 2+ years Pediatric CICU/CVICU experience as a staff nurse
• At least 1 year experience with neonatal cardiac patients (pre-op and post-op)
• 2+ years pediatric cardiac experience in step-down or cardiology floor

Typical Procedures Performed

• Central line and arterial line placement
• Conscious sedation
• Intubation and extubation
• Post-operative recovery for general and cardiac procedures
• Sternal closures
• Code response
• ECMO cannulation and decannulation
• Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
• Manual Positive-Pressure Breathing (PDB)

Certifications Required

• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

Floating Areas

• PICU
• NICU
• Pediatric Med Surg
• Pediatric Oncology

Schedule & Dress Code

• 48 hours guaranteed per week
• Rotating weekends: Day shift on Saturday and Sunday, night shift on Friday and Saturday
• No call required
• Scrub color: Royal blue
