Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (EP Lab RN)
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position: EP Lab Registered Nurse
- Shift Options:
- 3 shifts of 12 hours (Day)
- 4 shifts of 10 hours
- Additional: Three days of late case coverage per week
- Float Requirement: None
- Unit Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:3
- Parking: On campus, no shuttle needed after evening shifts
- Facility requires all employees to have the Flu vaccine
Requirements
- Licensure:
- DC RN License required prior to start date (pending license accepted at time of application)
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years experience with telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Proficient with Cardio Lab, Medconnect, Zoll, and Life Pak equipment
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background Checks:
- Criminal background check within 90 days including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- SSN Trace, Federal, Statewide, County searches as applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to start and monthly thereafter
- Health Requirements:
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Negative TB test (IGRA or PPD) within 1 year, updated annually; chest x-ray if history of positive TB
- Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
- Varicella immunity documentation (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccination strongly recommended; declination requires mask use during patient encounters
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), includes multiple substances; must be updated annually
- Competency Exams:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam within 3 years, passing score 80%+
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam within 1 year, updated annually, passing score 80%+ with 100% on lethal rhythms section
- Med Surg/Telemetry competency exam required for MedSurg and MS/Tele RNs
- Color Blind testing (online or in-person) required
- Other:
- I9/E-Verify attestation required upon hire
- Valid driver's license if driving is an essential job function
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
- Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually
Certifications & Training
- ACLS and BLS required
- PALS required only for RN/LPNs working in ED or Pediatrics (not required for this position)
- NRP, TNCC, EFM certifications as required by unit (not specifically required for EP Lab RN)
- Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment required annually
- Facility-specific modules (SITELS) must be completed prior to start date
Additional Notes
- Facility requires flu vaccination for all employees
- Parking is on campus, no shuttle service needed after evening shifts
- Candidates must complete facility-specific onboarding modules
- Drug screen and background checks must be current and compliant with facility policies
- EKG remediation courses and retesting may be required if competency exam standards are not met
