Unit Information

• Unit: Orthopedic Surgical Trauma (OST) #613
• Floor: 4th
• Number of Beds: 46
• Staff on Day Shift: 2 Charge Nurses, 9 Nurses, 3 Techs, variable Sitters
• Staff on Night Shift: Similar staffing with 2 Techs
• Patient Ratios: 1:6 and 1:5
• Equipment Used: Chest tubes, traction devices, orthopedic equipment, IV, oxygen, tracheostomies, drains
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Meditech

Required Skills & Experience

• Must Have: Chest tube management
• Preferred: Trauma experience
• Typical procedures: Management of lines and drains

Certifications & Licenses

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• NIH Certification
• Registered Nurse License (valid in Texas)

Work Environment & Expectations

• Floating Area: Medical Surgical units
• Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs
• Personality Fit: Flexible with good time management skills
• Schedule: Includes 4 weekend shifts per schedule

Contract Length

• 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)

This position is ideal for RNs with orthopedic trauma experience who are comfortable managing chest tubes and working in a fast-paced surgical trauma unit.
