Unit Details

• Department: Tele Intermediate
• Beds: 26
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4 or 1:5
• Nurse Aides (Techs) ratio: 1:9
• EMR system: EPIC
• Charge Nurse: Takes patients
• Telemetry: Central tele monitor tech; medications include Cardizem, Lasix, renal dopamine, nitro
• Ventilators: No vents; use Bipap, Cpap, HF/Vapotherm
• Hospitalist coverage: Hospitalist on-site 7am-5pm, then APN in-house with e-hospitalist support
• Respiratory Therapy: Available 24/7
• Pharmacy: 24/7 support; nursing does not mix medications
• IV Team: Not available

Schedule & Shifts

• Shift length: 12-hour shifts (7:00 am - 7:30 pm)
• No block scheduling, but night shifts in a row may be accommodated
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
• Holiday requirement: Every other holiday
• Call requirement: None
• Floating: Travelers expected to float; maintain 1:5 ratio on assigned unit

Orientation

• 1 shift hospital orientation
• 2 shifts unit orientation (one day shift, one night shift)
• Non-billable orientation hours: 12 hours

Certifications & Licenses Required

• Active Illinois RN license or proof that application process has started
• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)

Additional Requirements & Notes

• Must produce a negative drug screen for all panels (drug-free campus)
• Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius
• Scrub color: No specific color required; may wear own scrubs (not provided)
• Common patient diagnoses: CHF, COVID pneumonia, Atrial Fibrillation with RVR, tachy/brady syndrome, syncope

Staffing & Policies

• OSF Call Off Policy: Equivalent of 12 hours off every 13 weeks with no penalty or payback required
• Local rate adjustments apply for clinicians living within 50 miles

This position is ideal for RNs experienced in telemetry and intermediate care, comfortable with floating, and working in a fast-paced environment with a variety of cardiac and respiratory patients.
