Radiation Oncology Position - Boise, Idaho

Job Overview

  • Specialty: Radiation Oncology
  • Location: Boise, Idaho (with possible coverage at other Treasure Valley sites including Meridian, Fruitland, and Nampa)
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Department & Equipment

  • Department: Radiation Therapy - General
  • Equipment:
    • Linear Accelerators: 2 in Boise (plus others in surrounding sites)
    • CT Simulators: 1 per site (Boise, Meridian, Nampa, Fruitland, Twin Falls)
    • Machines: Varian, Siemens, Toshiba (consistent setup across sites)
  • Imaging/Studies Performed:
    • 3D, IMRT, SBRT, SRT/SRS
    • CT simulation occasionally

Required Experience & Certifications

  • Certifications:
    • BLS (AHA or ARC)
    • ARRT - Radiation Therapy
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2-3 years Radiation Therapy experience
    • Must have Varian True Beam experience for Treasure Valley sites (Boise, Meridian, Nampa, Fruitland)
    • Must have True Beam & Trilogy experience for Twin Falls site
  • Skills:
    • Proficient with ARIA (EMR system for record and verify)
    • Preferred experience with Epic EMR
    • Preferred Trilogy experience
  • IV experience preferred but not required

Work Environment & Scheduling

  • Shifts:
    • Monday to Friday
    • Variable start times between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM
    • Typical treatment hours: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Weekend, holiday, call, or standby requirements: None
  • Scheduling flexibility expected to fill gaps in permanent staffing
  • Orientation: Department-specific orientation usually 1 shift per site, depending on floating expectations
  • Dress Code: Clean, neat scrubs of any color or appropriate pattern, or business casual

Additional Information

  • Radiation therapy staff may be asked to float to other Treasure Valley facilities if needed (except Twin Falls staff who remain at that site)
  • Average daily scans/studies: 20-40 depending on site, with at least 2 treating therapists present
  • Supervisory structure: Each shift has a supervisor or lead; managers available remotely; leads/supervisors typically do not perform treatments but can if needed
  • Radiation Oncologists and midlevel providers available on site (5 Radiation Oncologists and 2 midlevels in Treasure Valley; 2 providers in Twin Falls)
  • Travelers have been successfully integrated into the program, with some transitioning to permanent roles
