Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (SICU RN) - Florence, South Carolina

Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (SICU)

  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Days 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, with holiday rotation
  • Patient Ratios: 1:2
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: Yes, must float within scope to like units/sister facilities (agency floats first)
  • Local Radius: 60 miles
  • Local Travelers: Not accepted
  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

Experience & Licensing Requirements

  • Experience Required: Minimum 1 year (preferably 2 years)
  • First-time Travelers: Not accepted
  • Licensing: South Carolina RN license or Compact license required prior to start
  • Certifications Required:
    • ACLS (AHA or ARC only)
    • BLS (AHA or ARC only)
    • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Special Requirements: Cardiac and Neuro experience required

  • Scrub Color: Royal Blue
  • Parking: Free

Certifications & Training Notes

  • Certifications must be valid beyond 30 days from start date; renewals or scheduled courses required if expiring soon.
  • PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM certifications may be required depending on unit.
  • Chemo certification not required for this location.
  • IV Therapy certification required for select LPNs (not applicable for RN role).
  • Orientation modules must be completed prior to start; estimated 4 hours for Florence location.
  • COVID-19 vaccinations are highly preferred but not required; declination form must be completed if not vaccinated.
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season or medical/religious exemption accepted (no declinations).
  • Respirator medical clearance required annually for patient-facing staff.

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including:
    • SSN Trace
    • Statewide and national criminal checks
    • Sex offender registry
    • FACIS 3
    • International searches required
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals.
  • Education verification not required for this facility.
  • NURSYS verification required for all RNs.
  • Work history verification not required for this facility.
  • Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests).

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet job demands.
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start (2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold not accepted; T-spot or Q-Gold accepted).
  • Annual TB questionnaire required.
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if low titer.
  • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required.
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if low titer.
  • Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season or approved exemption.
  • COVID-19 vaccine highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated.

Documentation & Onboarding

  • Must provide:
    • Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
    • Performance evaluation dated within 12 months of start
    • Complete employment application/resume
    • Clear, passport-style photo for badge
  • Facility-specific documents to be signed/reviewed prior to start include:
    • Assignment Acknowledgment
    • Code of Conduct
    • Employee Confidentiality Agreement
    • HR Policy Manual
    • Systems User Agreement
    • User Access Request
    • HIPAA Confidentiality Agreement
  • First Day Instructions and OurDay modules must be completed before orientation; failure to complete results in being sent home.
  • Upload COVID and flu vaccine documentation into the facility’s system as instructed.

This position is ideal for experienced SICU RNs with cardiac and neuro skills, who hold a valid SC or Compact RN license, and are comfortable with travel assignments requiring floating and weekend/holiday work.
