Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (IR PACU)
Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Position Details
- Role: Interventional Radiology Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (IR PACU) Nurse
- Shift: Rotating start times at 6:00 AM, 7:00 AM, or 8:00 AM
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, each 12 hours (shift times vary based on unit needs)
- Late stays: 3-4 required per 6 weeks
- Experience Required:
- IR PACU experience with Phase 1 recovery
- Minimum 1 year ICU experience
- Experience caring for pediatric patients
- Certifications Required:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or willingness to obtain prior to start
- Local travelers within 75 miles are not accepted
Required Background Checks & Verifications
- Background check within 1 year, updated annually
- County and national criminal background checks, sex offender search
- Education verification or signed official transcript/diploma
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated annually
- NURSYS license verification within 30 days of start
- Employment verification for last 7 years
- References: Two references verified within 6 months of start (manager/supervisor preferred)
- Employment application with explanation for any gaps over 30 days
Required Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS, BLS, PALS (or ENPC as acceptable alternative), NIH Stroke Certification
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) if applicable
- CHEMO certification if applicable
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) if applicable
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) Blue Card (can be completed onsite)
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) specific to ICU, IR, PACU, and other units
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (including pediatric medication exam if applicable)
- Unit-specific competency exams (multiple may be required)
- Color Blind Testing (online)
- Core Parts I, II, and III competency exams
- Conscious Sedation Competency Exam (if applicable)
- RN Math Ability Competency Exam (basic or advanced)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year, signed by MD, NP, or PA confirming good health and ability to perform duties
- Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask types accepted)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray with annual renewal
- TB questionnaire annually if history of positive TB
- Immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series or declination)
- Varicella
- Drug testing within 1 year, updated annually (specific drug panels required)
- Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required year-round with medical/religious exemptions accepted
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required; booster preferred but not mandatory
Facility Specific Requirements
- Completion of EKG exam within first week of booking (pass/fail with remediation process)
- Review and sign facility policies including Acceptable Use, Confidentiality, Electronic Communications, and Password Policy
- Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing required for ICU, PACU, ER, and other specified units
Additional Notes
- Candidates must renew all expiring documents prior to clearance for assignment
- Must be willing to complete any required certifications or trainings prior to start if not currently held
- This position requires flexibility with shift start times and occasional late stays
- Pediatric patient care experience is mandatory
