Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel Position
Location: Santa Fe, New Mexico
Shift: Nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
The Registered Nurse coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units. Ensures quality care is provided efficiently and safely, consistent with unit standards. Demonstrates professionalism, respect, and effective communication with staff, physicians, patients, and families.
Requirements
Licenses & Certifications
- Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license
- BLS (American Heart Association) required or within 2 weeks of hire
- ACLS (AHA)
- PALS (AHA)
- TNCC or ATCN
- CPI or equivalent preferred
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an RN (highest required)
Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge and skills appropriate to the patient population served
- Sensitive to patients’ rights in care delivery
- Clear and age-appropriate communication skills
- Ability to handle emergency/crisis situations
- Physical ability to perform extensive standing, walking, lifting, and patient transfers
- Manual dexterity and fine motor coordination
Work Environment & Responsibilities
- Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases
- Clean, well-lit, ventilated, smoke-free environment
- Flexible working hours with potential schedule changes and emergencies
- Floating to other units as needed, similar to staff RNs
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend
- No on-call requirement
Clinical Duties
- Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans
- Make comprehensive nursing decisions and modify care plans accordingly
- Participate in patient education and discharge planning
- Perform Point of Care testing procedures
Staff Responsibilities
- Delegate and coordinate unit work assignments
- Follow up on delegated tasks for quality and completeness
- Use appropriate chain of command for issue resolution
- Participate in orientation of new staff and students
- Serve as a resource to visitors, physicians, and staff
- Promote a positive, professional work environment
- Collaborate to achieve unit and organizational goals
Customer Relations
- Maintain high patient/customer satisfaction and respect patient rights and confidentiality
- Demonstrate effective communication and teamwork
- Support hospital mission, goals, and continuous service improvement
Other
- Assist with special projects as assigned
- Interpret and communicate HR policies accurately
- Adapt to changes in work environment or schedule
- Maintain positive attitude and professional growth
- Adhere to all policies, safety procedures, and attendance requirements
