Travel RN Opportunity – NICU Unit, Dallas, Texas

Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
  • Location: Dallas, Texas
  • Employment Type: Travel Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

  • Unit: NICU, North Tower, 4th Floor
  • Number of Beds: 108
  • Patient Ratios: 1:1 to 1:4
  • Staffing: RNs, LVNs, Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), Nurse Externs
  • Equipment Used: Nasal Cannula, Bubble CPAP, Ventilators, Oscillators, IV Pumps, NIRS, Warmers, Isolettes
  • Documentation Systems: CPN, Meditech
  • Scheduling: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour shifts, rotating weekends and holidays
  • Floating Policy: Contract staff float before permanent staff; float areas include PICU, Pediatrics, CICU; care for patients under 2 years old

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of Level III NICU experience
  • Experience with surgical and cardiac patients
  • Experience caring for infants less than 27 weeks gestation
  • Care of tracheostomy infants
  • Experience managing Broviac lines
  • Experience with preemies at least 28 weeks gestation and above
  • Management of central lines
  • Respiratory management including intubated patients

Advanced Skills & Procedures on Unit

  • Central line insertions
  • Circumcisions
  • Exploratory laparotomies
  • Gastroschisis reductions
  • PDA ligations

Certifications Required

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Dress Code

  • Royal blue scrubs required

This position offers the opportunity to work in a well-equipped NICU with a skilled multidisciplinary team, caring for a diverse patient population including surgical and cardiac neonates. The schedule includes 12-hour shifts with rotating weekends and holidays, providing a dynamic and engaging work environment.
