Registered Nurse (RN) - Kane, Pennsylvania

Employment Type: Permanent


Job Summary

  • Supervise nursing services and direct nursing care for residents in accordance with good nursing practice and applicable State and Federal regulations.
  • Oversee day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants and LPNs.
  • Administer and document medications, treatments, and monitoring (e.g., glucose checks).
  • Transcribe physician’s orders accurately.
  • Review and update care plans monthly with nursing assistants.
  • Report significant changes in resident condition to RN Supervisor.
  • Assist physicians with rounds, examinations, and treatments.
  • Collect and document laboratory specimens.
  • Supervise post-mortem procedures and notify appropriate departments.
  • Assist with staff evaluations, commendations, and counseling.
  • Complete incident reports and monitor resident vital signs and weights.
  • Maintain treatment trays, narcotic counts, and inventory of resident belongings.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and healthy environment; report safety hazards.
  • Supervise and direct nursing assistants to ensure prescribed care plans are followed.
  • Assist in orientation and training of new nursing staff.
  • Conduct team conferences and update staff on policy changes.
  • Monitor nurse aide documentation and job performance for compliance.
  • Provide direct resident care as needed.
  • Attend in-services, department, staff, and committee meetings.

Requirements

Licensure & Certification

  • Current Registered Nurse license in Pennsylvania or temporary work permit required at time of interview.
  • BLS (AHA) certification required.
  • COVID-19 vaccination required.

Experience & Skills

  • Nursing home experience is a plus but not required.
  • New graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Knowledge of medical asepsis, body mechanics, personal care of residents, correct use and care of equipment, observation techniques, reporting and recording.
  • Thorough knowledge of nursing theory and its application.
  • Ability to comply with regulations, policies, procedures, contracts, and institutional philosophy.
  • Courteous and professional manner toward residents, visitors, and co-workers.
  • Awareness of cost containment and efficient use of time and equipment.
  • Ability to accept and follow written and verbal directives.
  • Strong communication and observation skills.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and handle emergency situations.

Physical Demands

  • Good physical health and mental alertness to perform job functions timely.
  • Ability to pass employment physicals.
  • Knowledge of good body mechanics.
  • Physician permission to perform duties as outlined.
  • Must be free of communicable diseases.

Dress Code

  • Uniforms: Any colored scrubs.
  • Shoes: Clean, in good repair, no open-toe sandals.
  • Hair: Clean.
  • Sweaters: Cardigans or vests of any color allowed.
  • Jewelry: No large or dangling earrings or necklaces.
  • No heavy perfumes.
  • Name tags worn daily.
  • No short or jogging pants.

  • Must be willing to comply with institutional policies and philosophy.
  • Must be able to work night shifts (night shift differential applies).
  • Potential relocation assistance may be discussed during interview.
