Job Opportunity: RN Medical / Surgical / Telemetry

Location: Akron, Ohio
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Requirements

• Must have ACLS and BLS certifications (AHA only, AHA RQI acceptable)
• Accredited nursing degree through ACEN or CCNE required
• Minimum 2+ years recent experience in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units
• Float required
• Solid black scrubs required
• Willingness to work every other holiday
• Return to Office (RTO) requests limited to a maximum of 7 days; block schedules considered case-by-case
• Charge nurse experience highly preferred but not required; RN must be willing to train for charge nurse role

Required Credentials & Compliance (Must be current and valid)

Certifications

• BLS (AHA only)
• ACLS (AHA only)

Licenses

• Valid nursing license verified through Nursys within 30 days of start
• License/certificate verification via primary source within 30 days of start

Health & Immunizations

• Fit Test for N95 masks (3M 1870+, Medline Cone Small, 3M 1860 Reg & Small) updated annually
• Pre-employment physical within 1 year, confirming ability to perform essential job functions
• COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions reviewed case-by-case)
• MMR: Titer or 2 adult vaccines; no declinations accepted
• Hepatitis B: Titer or complete vaccine series; signed declinations accepted
• Influenza vaccine required October-April; medical/religious exemptions require approval
• 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) with negative results; no declinations accepted
• Varicella: Titer or 2 adult vaccines; no declinations accepted
• Annual TB questionnaire (Summa form) completed, signed, and dated
• Positive PPD requires negative chest X-ray within 1 year

Testing & Competency

• Unit-specific competency exam (passing score required, updated annually)
• Unit-specific skills checklist (updated annually)
• EKG and Telemetry exams with passing score of 80% or higher (within 1 year)
• Core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics (updated annually)

Professional Requirements

• Valid government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• RN submission packet checklist completed and signed
• Work order confirmation form completed upon offer acceptance
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, updated annually
• Criminal background check (FCRA compliant, 7-year search, SSN trace, nationwide) within 90 days of start
• OIG search within 90 days of start
• EPLS search within 90 days of start
• Third-party education verification
• Social Security card or number provided

Additional Notes

• Travelers continuously on assignment without breaks are not required to update physicals, drug screens, or background checks annually
• Must be willing to comply with all facility-specific policies and procedures
