Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Tucson, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Work schedule options: 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts
  • Float required based on census
  • Coverage every other weekend
  • Patient ratio: 1:2
  • No local candidates accepted
  • Minimum 2 years RN Labor & Delivery experience required

Licenses & Certifications Required

  • Valid Arizona RN license
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • AWHONN Advanced or Intermediate Fetal Monitoring (within 2 years) — candidates without AWHONN certification will not be considered

Orientation

  • Held twice a month
  • Upcoming orientation dates provided by facility

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Current Driver’s License or State ID with address
  • Residency Declaration Form (if using compact license)
  • Background Check (7 years, including Pima County, AZ; must be started within 30 days of assignment start and cannot be pending)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (run within 30 days of start)
  • Physical Exam (within 1 year, signed by physician, NP, or PA)
  • Fit Mask Testing (N95, within 1 year)
  • Immunizations and Titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years; declinations allowed except for certain units)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year; stricter timing for starts after 12/1/2025)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (proof of vaccination or positive titer; no declinations)
    • Hepatitis B (proof of vaccination or positive titer; declinations allowed with signed form)
    • Varicella (proof of vaccination or positive titer; no declinations)
  • Drug Testing (12 panel, within 30 days of start, must be started within 72 hours of booking)
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season Oct 1 – Apr 30)

Testing & Competencies

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (passing score 80%+)
  • Competency Exam specific to specialty (passing score 80%+)
  • HIPAA Competency (annual, passing score 80%+)
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for certain units; failure may lead to contract review or cancellation
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification required
  • Color Blind Testing (only for OR and Cath Lab positions)

Additional Requirements

  • 2 professional references from employment within last 3 years (1 must be supervisory)
  • Employment application including last 7 years of work history with explanations for gaps over 30 days
  • Skills checklist updated annually
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement

This position requires strict adherence to facility-specific compliance and documentation standards.
