Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) - Meridian, Idaho
Assignment Details
- Location: Meridian, Idaho
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour evening shifts
- Start Date: ASAP
- Schedule:
- Shifts vary between 07:30-20:00, 10:00-22:30, 11:30-00:00, 13:30-02:00, 15:30-04:00, 19:30-08:00
- Mix of AM or PM shifts, no late-to-early shift rotations
- Minimum 2 weekends (4 days) every 6 weeks
- Holiday shifts as needed
- Orientation: 1 shift on unit after hospital and Epic orientation
Unit Information
- Department: Emergency Room (ER)
- Trauma Level: Level IV, STEMI Level I, Stroke Level II; working toward Level III Trauma designation
- Beds: 45 total (including 4 hallway beds, 4 vertical rooms, 1 trauma bay, 1 resuscitation bay, 1 cardiac room)
- Fast Track: Yes, vertical space and rapid assessment
- Triage: Separate triage area (travelers do not triage)
- Holding Area: ER holds intermixed within ER
- Psych Rooms: 4 psych/seclusion rooms included in bed count; 1:1 sitters required for psych patients
- Security: In-house, 24/7, located in ER
- Average Patients per Day: Approximately 170
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4-5
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2.5 years Emergency Department experience
- Experience from a larger urban hospital preferred
- Trauma experience preferred
- Comfortable managing high acuity patients (ESI Level I) including stroke, STEMI, trauma, abdominal pain
- Pediatric and adult patient care; stabilize and transfer pediatric patients

- Propofol
- Fentanyl
- Norepinephrine
- Nitroglycerin
- Versed
- Precedex
Staffing & Support
- ED Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) present; typically 1 APP per day, up to 6 providers at peak times
- Charge Nurse on each shift (does not take patient assignments)
- Assistant Nurse Manager and Administrative Supervisor available
- CNA support ratio 1:5-9; CNAs perform EKGs, phlebotomy, wound care (no irrigation)
- Respiratory Therapists (RT) available 24/7; manage ABGs, breathing treatments, and RT equipment
- RNs responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry/monitors (SpaceLabs cardiac monitors)
- X-Ray and CT available in ER; overflow in main radiology, transport patients unless critical
- Lab draws performed by RNs, CNAs, and phlebotomy staff

- No call or standby requirements
- Rare floating to nearby ERs in Boise or Nampa
- Dress code: professional and clean, no specific scrub color required
- Facility enforces a 50-mile radius rule for candidates’ permanent address
